How the hype score is calculated
A 0–100 measure of how much public attention a coin is getting right now, ranked against the rest of the top 1000: 50% trading turnover (24h volume ÷ market cap), 20% size of the 24h price move (up or down), and 30% CoinGecko's trending-search list (🔥, weighted by rank). Bands: Quiet (<35), Active (35–59), Buzzing (60–79), Hype (80+). Stablecoins are excluded.
High hype is not a buy or sell signal. Attention spikes often coincide with heightened volatility in both directions. The Fear & Greed Index (Alternative.me) summarizes overall market sentiment from volatility, momentum and volume, social media, Bitcoin dominance and search trends.
How the volatility range is calculated
The range shows where price would sit if it moved by one standard deviation of its recent realized volatility: price × e±σ√h, where σ is the standard deviation of hourly log returns over the past 7 days and h is the horizon in hours (24 or 168). Under a normal-distribution assumption, about 68% of outcomes fall inside this band.
This is a statistical description of past volatility, not a forecast, price target or recommendation. Crypto returns have fat tails: moves beyond the band happen far more often than a normal distribution implies, and volatility regimes change quickly. Prices: CoinGecko.
